this construct contains two tandem repeats of the mutated N3 motif sequence (atcgtcgcggccgaagcgTGAccaagtcgt -> atcgtcgcggccgaagcgCAGccaagtcgt) in 5 of the -117bp to the +238bp of the 5 flanking Ci-msxb enhancer sequence. Expression is observed in mesodermal territories but expression in the nervous system is lost.
