This sequence is a non-coding element conserved between Ciona intestinalis and Ciona savignyi. Original comment : These Ciona conserved non-coding elements (ciCNEs) are associated with largely the same key regulatory genes as vertebrate CNEs. When tested in zebrafish embryos, this cis-regulatory region is weakly active in the sensory pre-otic ganglion.
